Xbox 360 UK repair blog

As I mentioned in an earlier post my Xbox 360 has recently stopped working 15 days outside it’s warrenty. Unfortunatly the repair of my washing machine in my house had taken presedance over getting my Xbox 360 repaired (only just) but now I have finally reached the point where I am about to ship off my 360 to that big repair centre in the sky, I am told it’s where all 360s eventually end up.. well I’m starting to think maybe that is true.

But thats not the point of this post. I’ve decided to keep track of my 360s little trip to microsoft on my site, not only to a guide to others as to how well (or bad) the UK support centre is, but also for my own records, and if they truley mess up I suppose I can always direct them to my site.

So tommorow (when I get a chance) I’ll stick up the story so far..

As Promised the repair status page will be updated as it unfolds.

I can’t belive in this day in age that a console can have serious issues such as this. I’ve heard other reports that they tend to over-heat at the end of hours of play, but due to my sources i put this down to inadequate ventilation. Having heard all the horror about the PS3 from all of my friends(who all own 360s so whenever i mention “but what about this Playsta..” they interupt and throw loads of facts and exclusive titles at me) it makes me wonder how bad the 360 is. I don’t own a next-gen console yet and havn’t missed them, but come next year i will get a PS3 for MGS4 and GTA4. My-two-cents are that the PS controller is far superiour then Microsofts.

After researching my problem I would either put it down to inadequate cooling in general for the Xbox360 (As my console has always been in a perfectly ventilated area) and poor DVD Drive manufacturing by Hitatchi. It’s no secret that microsoft has an obvious problem with it’s consoles, some people are lucky, some are not. PS3 do have a much better cooling system at present than the Xbox 360 in my opinion, and maybe if they hadn’t sold their console at a stupid price I might of got one.

I guess I’m a proud convert, I owned a Sony PS1 and the PS2, never owned an original Xbox. The Xbox 360 has just been completely awesome, it has the games I enjoy, and XBOX Live service is the best online service out there for consoles. What I’m trying to say is I don’t mind the inconveniance of sending my Xbox 360 in for repair for 15 days or so, as in my opinion there is nothing that can compare to the online experiance.
