January.. AFK..

AFK January

Yeah so January.. I’ve been AWOL.

I guess my blog posts stopped new years day, one of my two cats died to a somewhat unknown cause and it feels from that point on things just have snowballed.

I also got into an argument with my computer, you see it wanted to be upgraded, but I told it it would have to wait, well it threw a tantrum and blew up it’s motherboard, and so the argument is settled, I shall be upgrading my main computer as soon as I can find the spare cash to do so, and in the mean time I am borrowing a friends.

I also got a bunch of Xbox 360 gaming done, having fun with mass effect and still playing call of duty 4 multiplayer.

I will be posting much more in Feb, but I need to finish off my Hellish January first. Until then.

We’re making a machinima.

So me and a few of my buddies in Vent want to make a machinima set in a bunch of games. The first game we’re going to make one in is TFC(Team Fortress Classic). We’re still recruiting for some actors as we only have 3 and then me as the cameraman/director. There are other job openings left also. Also, we still don’t have a name either of the machinima or what we are going to call ourselves, so with Smokey’s permission we should be called Shadowreality. Sounds cool.

Job Openings:

Actors - As many as the people that want to join in.

Editors - Me right now but we might need a better editor

Cameraman - Me right now but we might need a better Camera Man

Writer - Me but I really suck at making jokes when the situation doesn’t call for it so its still open

Director - We need some better looking scenes

I’m really thinking about putting the machinimas on machinima.com and revver and if people watch the videos I will be able to distribute the money we get for each video each month. Also, we need a british voice to balance everything out. HAHA

PS: I know that British people are 5 hours ahead of Americans and might not be able to attend the dates we do it. We understand but any time that you are available, you should come.

Empires Mod - HL2 Mod

Empires is a team based fps mod for Half Life 2. It’s actually easier to think of this game as a Battlefield type game. The reason being, there are different classes and unlockable weapons(for just one round). This game adopts the ticket system made famous by Battlefield and adds vehicles to the fray. Vehicles are pretty dull though with all of them being tanks and jeeps. There are currently no planes implemented yet but the Empires Mod Team is in the works for planes. Empires Mod uses Source SDK to its best potential. The team’s maps are big as Source SDK will allow and it is rumored that the Empires Mod Team is in the works to make the maps even larger by shrinking the model size. If they pull this off, they could possibly become one of the best mods ever.

Now, Empires Mod is far from perfect. Even though most of the gameplay is good, and the map sizes are huge, the game still lacks the graphical quality that most HL2 mods have. Their textures and models look like they would’ve been in a Call of Duty game.

One other thing that wasn’t mentioned. The game has a seperate gameplay mode: the commander mode. Basically at the beginning of the round, a commander is elected and he plays the game in an RTS perspective. He can tell the other players where to move, where to build, where to defend, so on so forth.

Insurgency - HL2 Mod

Many of you source players out there may know what this is but some of you do not. Insurgency. This mod is a realistic shooter pitting the Iraqi Insurgents against the forces of the USMC. What makes this game unique, is that they go the extra mile or kilometer(if you are living anywhere besides the US) to make this game as realistic as possible. There are absolutely no crosshairs, no health bar, no radar, no ammo counter, no auto - reload, and it is almost impossible to shoot if you dont look down your sights. It is much like COD4’s gameplay mode with no crosshairs but this is more realistic. Also, you can pretty much die in one or two(if you are lucky)shots. The animations are amazing and so are the weapon and character models.

 The game is currently in it’s second beta stage but you can go on over to the site to try it out for yourself.

Black Mesa Source

Well I guess I will start my first post as a review to some mods for HL2. Today, I’m going to be talking about Black Mesa Source. First of all, anyone who hasn’t played HL1 and doesn’t know the greatness that is “Gordan Freeman”(Local Mute Scientist) then you might not get as much excitement from this as other people will.

 Black Mesa Source is a complete remake of HL1 except as a mod built entirely on the Source Engine. The whole game is going to built from the ground up and that includes revamped level design, character models, and enemy models. It is still not known if Black Mesa Source(Now referred to as BMS) will have new voiceovers. Although this game is a complete remake of HL1, it is not being developed by Valve thus showing the great power of the modding community once again.
